Charles Wright

Charles Wright won the Pulitzer Prize for his book Black Zodiac, and the 1996 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize for his eleventh collection of poems, Chickamauga.  Other works include Buffalo Yoga, Negative Blue, Appalachia, The World of the Ten Thousand Things: Poems 1980-1990, Zone Journals, and Country Music, which won the National Book Award.  His most recent work is Scar Tissue.  Wright is a Chancellor of The Academy of American Poets, and has received the Award of Merit Medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize. He is Souder Family Professor of English at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
