Eleanor Ross Taylor graduated from Woman’s College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, in 1940. Three years later she married writer Peter Taylor. Wilderness of Ladies, her first book of poetry, was published in 1960. In 1972, her second book of poetry, Welcome Eumenides, was published, followed by New and Selected Poems in 1983. In 1998, she was awarded the Shelley Memorial Prize by the Poetry Society of America. Her recent work includes Days Going, Days Coming Back and Late Leisure. Taylor currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia.
